Secret bid for peace in Iran with Oman intermediary: Tehran sources
The Omani foreign minister has secretly visited Tehran and met the Iranioan foreign minister to relay a message from the US seeking to talk to Iran, according to confidential sources reported to this author.
The Minister was representing the other Gulf states with the exception of Saudi Arabia. The Iranian foreign minister told him that Iran would require the removal of American bases from their countries, a trillion dollars in compernsation [for the damage that the Americans have done] and a cast iron guarantee that the Israelis would cease their attacks. The Iranians believe that Trump is under the sway of Benjamin Netanyahu is unable to deliver an end to hostilities.
The Iranians have warned that installations of Aramco, the Saudi oil company would be targeted. They are the only Gulf state not to support the Omani approach.
Oman as intermediary again
Shipping company requests insurance to go through the Gulf of Hormuz must first be vetted and accepted by the Iranian Naval attache. If the Iranian finds that it is linked to an enemy of Iran, it warns Lloyds that the vessel could be a target and Lloyds refuses insurance.
